  A new on going work is being done to produce a new definition that deprecates COOKED and RAW syslog profiles, removing some limitations. See full details at: draft-lear-ietf-syslog-rfc3195bis-00.txt.
• 2006/12/19: NETCONF over BEEP proposed standard protocol: RFC 4744
  NETCONF application protocol mapping for the BEEP protocol has been approved. You'll find more details about the RFC approved at: RFC4744.
  From the RFC introduction we can read the following:

     1.1.  Why BEEP?
  
     Use of BEEP is natural as an application protocol for transport of
     XML.  As a peer-to-peer protocol, BEEP provides an easy way to
     implement NETCONF, no matter which side of the connection was the
     initiator.  This "bidirectionality" allows for either manager or
     agent to initiate a connection.  This is particularly important to
     support large numbers of intermittently connected devices, as well as
     those devices that must reverse the management connection in the face
     of firewalls and network address translators (NATs).
  
     BEEP makes use of the Simple Authentication and Security Layer (SASL)
     [3].  The SASL profile used by BEEP allows for a simple and direct
     mapping to the existing security model for command line interface
     (CLI), while Transport Layer Security (TLS) [4] provides a strong,
     well-tested encryption mechanism with either server or server and
     client-side authentication.

• 2006/06/08: A new BEEP mapping: WIDEX over BEEP.
  WIDEX (Widget Description Exchange Service) is an application protocol that defines a framework where the user interface and the application logic may be located on different machines, and then coupled via an exchange of XML DOM events and update/mutation operations.

• 2006/03/31: IDXP protocol reclassification.
  Due to a reference done from the proposed standard draft-ietf-idwg-beep-idxp to the normative reference draft-ietf-idwg-idmef-xml, which has been approved as an experimental protocol, the IESG has decided to reclassify the IDXP protocol as an experimental standard.
• 2006/03/29: Protocol Action for NETCONF mapping over BEEP.
  A protocol action has been announced to propose this mapping as an Internet standard.
• 2006/03/09: NETCONF mapping over BEEP draft update
